Level 3 - Developing a Lean Supply
Chain:
We
developed our
third kit to demonstrate some key issues that are often experienced
by companies who are well into the final stages of their Lean
Enterprise Implementation. A major realization for every organization
that has implemented Lean Manufacturing Principles, is a
dramatic improvement and more flexibility in their operational
capabilities to meet the demands of their
customers. However, many organizations just don't understand why
after all their hard work, they are still not able to continuously sustain
their increased productivity! Why is this?
One
key reason is that once an organization has implemented Lean
Manufacturing Principles internally, it soon begins to realize that it can only improve
and maintain it's delivery performance to it's
customers at the same rate that it's suppliers are capable of
delivering materials to them. Therefore, the next phase in
developing into a Lean
Enterprise is to move your focus externally and complete an
assessment of all your key suppliers. A supplier assessment will determine if
your current suppliers have the capability of supporting your
current operational demands and meet the future growth of your business.
Our Level 3 kit introduces the audience
to a live simulation to demonstrate how the supply chain can
determine the success or failure of any Lean Enterprise Implementation.
The
Level 3 kit allows you to take a team of employees through a
Supply Chain Simulation. They will operate as a fictitious
manufacturing company that is
ordering their raw materials from three different suppliers and one sub-assembly from
a single vendor. The team will use the necessary documentation required to
manufacture and order parts for multiple finished products. The purpose of using the
mixed model simulation is to show how the process was improved
during the Lean Enterprise Implementation. They achieved a
level of improvement that allowed the company to put
several products through the same production line. The Level 3 kit demonstrates
how internal process improvement increases throughput but product output
can only be sustained if the Supply Chain
problems are eliminated. During the Level 3 simulation the team will experience three levels of
improvement, which clearly demonstrates how the relationship between
demand and supply determines your ability to maintain on-time or late delivery to the
customer.
The
team will learn how good communication is the key to identify
problems and implementing improvements to the material re-order
process to meet customer demand. The team will also experience
first hand, what effect their decisions have on the whole
manufacturing process from the procurement of raw materials to
shipping the finished product to the customer.
Total time required
for the Lean Supply Chain Simulation is approximately 2 hours and a minimum of 20 people
in attendance to successfully run the simulation.
The
kit consists of:
-
A Level 3 training CD which
includes: training manual, supply chain instructions and
assembly drawings, customer order and receiving documentation,
order entry, material procurement documentation, supplier
documentation and a profit and loss spreadsheet. Also included
with this package is the Level 1 training CD - "Introduction to
Lean" and Level 2 training CD - "Implementing Lean."
-
A multi color Lego™ kit.
-
Tool box which includes; stop
watches, measuring equipment, clip board, pens and note pad.
-
Rolling tote bag with pull handle to
hold all items for easy storage and transportation.
We
can facilitate a "Train the Trainer" session. This a one day
event to give instruction and demonstrate how to use the Level 3
kit. Contact us to discuss your
organizational requirements and pricing.
You can
now purchase our at a price of $3,000 (plus shipping & handling).
